- The existence of the mysterious secret cartel NESTS was brought to light during KOF '99; however, ever since the demise of Krizalid, its activities have come to a standstill.
- In contrast, terrorist activities throughout the world have been escalating rapidly. Heidern and his band of mercenaries have determined these incidents to be the handiwork of K´ and Maxima. They mount their pursuit of the duo, with the intent to end their misdeeds.
